Reading
E readers - ePlatform
Students and staff at All Saints have access to the ePlatform, this is an online platform where eBooks and Audio Books can be borrowed. The students can access this in school using their Chromebooks/Laptops and an app can be added to mobile phones/tablets so it can also be used at home. https://allsaintslessingham.eplatform.co/
Reading Reward Scheme https://www.allsaintslessingham.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Rewards-Policy.pdf
To encourage Reading for Pleasure the school has a reading reward system where students are rewarded for their reading at home. This is a credit system working towards Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Awards.
Book Boxes
Each half term KS2 and KS3 classes are provided with a book box for the classroom, this will contain fiction and non-fiction books that support the current topics and encourage reading around the curriculum.
Displays:
The students who have achieved awards on the reading reward scheme have their photos displayed in the library as we are keen to share their success within the school community. There is an “if you like…” and “first line display” in the library to help students when choosing a new book to read. Each half-term the school focuses on one of the Protected Characteristics, a display is created to reflect this within the library
- Literacy Leaders help to plan events for the library and keep it running smoothly with Mrs Fuller, our Librarian.
- Visiting library - NCC Mobile Library visits the school on a monthly basis.
- The library is restocked regularly. Students are involved in choosing books and there is a request system.
- PAT Dog - On a Friday morning, we welcome Sid, our Pets as Therapy Dog, together with his owner Alvin to the school library. The students enjoy spending time with and reading to Sid, this is worked on a rota basis so that all students who wish to see Sid have a chance.
- World Book Day - World Book Day is celebrated annually at All Saints. Literacy Leads join the Librarian on a trip to Norwich to collect the WBD books for the whole school.
Over the last few years we have hosted a number of visitors to help encourage the students' love of reading. We have been visited by an author, rap artist, illustrator and a performance poet.
