Safeguarding

Safeguarding Alert – Contact a member of the safeguarding team

The ‘ALERT US’ button is a tool available on our website to raise any safeguarding concerns outside of school hours.

This tool is there for parents/carers and students to use when needing support. The information is sent direct to the safeguarding team to deal with the concern.

Safeguarding is regarded as the highest priority at All Saints School and we take action with all concerns raised.

Safeguarding is very important to us. All adults who work or volunteer in school are subject to a DBS check and are asked to wear a badge to identify who they are. They are all given safeguarding and prevent training and receive regular updates.

Any visitors to the school site are also asked to sign in at the school office and wear a visitors' badge.

Our children are taught what to do if they are worried about something and who to go to for help. They are taught to identify staff and visitors in school and clear reporting of any concerns ensures that any worries are addressed quickly.

Our curriculum regularly covers areas such as e-Safety and personal safety. We will send a termly safeguarding newsletter which will give advice and guidance on safeguarding outside of school.

Reporting Concerns About Adults Working With Young People

If you have a concern regarding an adult working with young people at All Saints School, please contact Samantha Dangerfield (Headteacher) at head@allsaintslessingham.co.uk.

You may also report concerns directly to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). If you have concerns about an adult working with a child under the age of 18, please refer to the LADO consultation and referral guidance.

All LADO-related queries should be submitted in line with these procedures and sent to:
LADO@norfolk.gov.uk

If you are unsure whether your concern meets the threshold for contacting the LADO, you can seek advice by calling 0344 800 8020.

Any student, member of staff, parent/carer, or visitor can make a referral if they have a concern about a child or an adult. Referrals can be made directly to the school’s safeguarding team or to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).

Sexual Abuse Within Schools

Child-on-Child Abuse, Sexual Violence and Harassment, and Harmful Sexual Behaviour

Our position as a school is clear: sexual violence and sexual harassment are never acceptable, will never be tolerated, and are not an inevitable part of growing up. Such behaviour will never go unchallenged or become accepted. We are committed to working openly and transparently to promote mutual respect.

Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy provide guidance on identifying indicators of peer-on-peer abuse and harmful sexual behaviour, as well as our response procedures. All relevant safeguarding policies are available in the Policies section of our website.

All students receive Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and participate in the Bystander Intervention Programme delivered through Norfolk Schools and Learning Providers.

The Bystander Intervention Programme is designed to support schools in tackling sexist language and sexual harassment. It includes:

  • Staff CPD on challenging sexist language
  • Lessons for KS2, KS3, and KS4 on inappropriate language, sexism, and the impact of sexual harassment
  • Education on becoming an active bystander

The overall aim of the programme is to empower children and young people to become active bystanders who can safely challenge sexist language and help prevent incidents of sexual harassment in school and the wider community.

Students are taught that the appropriate way to disclose an allegation of abuse involving another student is to inform a member of school staff.

If an allegation is made against a member of staff, this must be reported to the Headteacher or directly to the Chair of Advisors, who has safeguarding oversight.
If the concern relates to the Headteacher, it should be reported directly to the Chair of the Advisory Board at: coa@allsaintslessingham.co.uk

We will always take concerns seriously and act upon them.

Operation Encompass

At All Saints School, we work in partnership with Norfolk Police and Norfolk County Council to identify and support pupils who have experienced domestic abuse in their home. This initiative is known as Operation Encompass.

Through this scheme, Norfolk’s Education Safeguarding Team shares information with the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead(s) following police-attended domestic incidents where a pupil has been present. Upon receipt of this information, the DSL will assess and arrange appropriate support for the child.

All Operation Encompass information is stored securely and handled in line with our safeguarding and child protection procedures. Information sharing and actions taken are carried out in accordance with statutory guidance and data protection requirements.

Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership

It is our business to keep children safe.

Every Local Authority in the country has to have a Multi-Agency Safeguarding Agreement (MASA) in partnership with the Police and Health. In Norfolk, the Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership (NSCP) is led by the 3 statutory partners who work together with other local agencies including the voluntary sector to make sure that children are protected from harm and that their welfare is promoted. The NSCP has robust independent scrutiny arrangements to ensure that people working with children carry out their safeguarding responsibilities as required by the law. Our work is underpinned by the government document Working Together.
